Mount Kilimanjaro
Situated in East Africa, just south of the equator, mainland Tanzania lies between the area of the great lakes; Victoria, Tanganyika and Malawi - with the Indian Ocean on its' coastline to the east. It has land borders with Uganda and Kenya to the north, Mozambique and Malawi to the south, Zambia to the southwest and DRC Congo, Burundi and Rwanda to the west.

Tanzania's culture is a result of African, Arab, European and Indian influences. The native people of Tanzania consist of about 120 tribal groups. The largest groups are of Bantu origin. The Maasai who are Nilotes are found in Arusha. It is one of the least urbanized countries in Sub- Saharan Africa, but traditional African ideals are being deliberately adapted to modern life.



Tanzania has incredible biodiversity which often vary according to the season and region as it is a vast country. It has populated national parks, with the renowned Ngorongoro and the Serengeti as the major destinations in the northern region. The Ngorongoro crater which is the largest unbroken caldera in the world is home to many species of wild game and birds. Mt Kilimanjaro which is also known as the “Roof of Africa” is situated near the Kenya border, and is the highest mount in Africa.
